FIVE FAVOURITE FINDS #1

5 JULY 2021
You may or may not have gathered but we're pretty obsessed about all things edible - and a few more things too! As we regularly stumble upon some great finds, food or no, and we thought we'd share our favourites with you!
Here is the very first Five Favourite Finds series post. There'll be more to come!

1. PEANUT RAYU: OUR NEW FAVOURITE CONDIMENT

We have a pantry absolutely filled to the brim with spices and condiments. So when I spotted this intriguing jar of Peanut Rayu, by White Mausu from Dublin, I thought that we just didn’t need it and put it back on the shelf. Then, a few weeks later, Sam came back with it!

And well, we finished it in just two weeks! We absolutely LOVE the stuff, which you’d say comes as no surprise as it contains two of Sam’s favourite things: peanuts & chilli (and a host of other delicious things like sesame, agave, crispy garlic, tamari, salt). It adds a flavour kick to any dish and is just so tasty and versatile. You really need to try it!

2. SUPERETTE: A NEW DELI IN ISLINGTON

Always on the lookout for exciting food stores, we recently popped into the newly opened Superette Deli on Upper Street. What we found was a curated selection of the best provisions London has to offer, all in one place. The packaging of every single product was beautiful, so much so that we’d proudly display them in our kitchen for all to see.
The deli counter offers all the best stuff: cheeses from La Fromagerie, bread from St John’s Bakery, and coffee (including to-go) from Climpson & Sons. Further down are well-stocked fridges with Estate Dairy products, Natoora dips & fresh pasta, Payst Thai pastes... In the rest of the shop we spotted THE Peanut Rayu, Single Variety jams, very cool looking spirits and so much more. There were lots of other great looking brands stocked there, which definitely warrants further visits!

3. OSIP RESTAURANT: A DELIGHTFUL DETOUR IN SOMERSET

We spent the weekend in Somerset, and made a last-minute decision to treat ourselves and booked lunch at the restaurant Osip. And what a good idea that was! Set in the quaint little town of Bruton, the attention to detail was impeccable, the interior beautifully restrained, and of course, the seasonal cooking by chefs Merlin Johnson & David Durban was simply wonderful. We’re already thinking about returning during another season. If you’re ever in the region, it’s certainly worth the detour!

4. STASHER BAGS: KEEPING OUR FRIDGE AND PRODUCE ORGANISED

We purchased these Stasher Reusable Bags at the end of last year (I mentioned them as part of our foodie gift guide) and used them regularly to keep things in place in our fridge.
During the Summer months, however, these bags have really proved invaluable and I simply cannot do without them! There is an abundance of fresh produce at this time of year, such as tomatoes, butter lettuce, berries, and I love prepping them in advance and having them at the ready in the fridge. Nothing like a kitchen addition that helps with organisation!
What's more, these bags are eco-friendly and made of silicone (aka inert silicon (sand) + oxygen), which is safe for human health and the planet.

5. SECRET CAFFEINE CLUB: OUR NEW COFFEE SUBSCRIPTION

We'll let you in on a little secret: our subscription to the Secret Caffeine Club! As pretty big coffee fanatics, we constantly need to top up our supply of coffee beans. Now, we don't need to fear running out! With this subscription, a pack of coffee comes through our letterbox from a different speciality UK coffee roaster, which makes our morning brew that much more exciting.
Not to mention that it is super practical: you can choose if you’d like your coffee ground, at what coarseness so that it matches your brewing method, as well as if you’d like it delivered on a weekly bi-weekly or monthly basis. Simply brilliant! If like us, you're a bit of a coffee fanatic we definitely think you'll like it.
