THE PAINTED DOG BAKEHOUSE: AN IRRESISTIBLE BABKA

30 AUGUST 2021
You may or may not have gathered but we're pretty obsessed about all things edible - and a few more things too! As we regularly stumble upon some great finds, food or no, and we thought we'd share our favourites with you!
Sam and I popped into Islington’s Superette deli the other week and spotted a lovely selection of babkas on the counter from the Painted Dog Bakehouse. We immediately glanced at each other and couldn’t resist taking home a small tahini, halva and walnut babka.

The babka was incredibly soft and buttery with wonderful layers throughout and was the perfect level of sweetness and nuttiness. The loaf we picked was absolutely spot-on sizewise for 2 people. Yet, we definitely had to impose a little self-control so as not to finish it all in one day!

I had the pleasure to meet Talia the founder of the bakery around 2019 (at a baking club no less!). I have since observed with delight her business take off and continuously grow.

You can now find her babkas in several delis and shops across London, including Melrose & Morgan, Provisions, and Superette, amongst others. She regularly launches seasonal babkas too, such as pumpkin and spice or rhubarb and custard. Don’t worry though, if you too are a babka fiend and simply cannot wait to try one, you can get one delivered to your home. Happy days!

How About You?
