YAYA KOMBUCHA: OUR NEW FAVOURITE FIZY DRINK

15 SEPTEMBER 2021
You may or may not have gathered but we're pretty obsessed about all things edible - and a few more things too! As we regularly stumble upon some great finds, food or no, and we thought we'd share our favourites with you!
This past year Sam and I have developed a newfound love for Kombucha. To the point where we share a little bottle at the end of the week as a treat (yeah, I know).

Kombu-what you ask? Kombucha brewing is believed to have originated in Northeast China in 220 B.C. Kombucha is a fermented beverage created from tea, a specific yeast and bacteria (called SCOBY) and sugar. The mix is left to ferment for a week to a month. The result is a fizzy drink that can vary from sweet to vinegary in taste. Fruits, herbs or spices can also be added for additional flavour.

The beverage's tea base and fermentation process have been linked to probiotic benefits that aid digestion and promote gut health. In turn, these health benefits associated with it have bolstered the drink's growth in recent years.

Especially popular in the US for some time, kombucha seems to have found a strong demand and appetite in Europe. To our delight, we are continuously finding new and exciting brands and flavours. Amongst our latest discoveries is Yaya Kombucha.

The little cans with their lovely packaging immediately stood out to me amongst the glass bottles of kombucha in Planet Organic. I must say that we absolutely LOVE the Yuzu flavour. The Dutch brand has many more flavours which we hope will make an appearance soon in the UK! Have you tried kombucha?

How About You?

What have been your discoveries and these last few weeks? Let us know as we always enjoy hearing what you stumbled upon as we get to discover lots of new things!
